Biogeochemisty and climate

The activities of my research group are described in this web

What do we do?

We are interested in understanding how the planet functions as a system, and how humans have modified the natural systems. For this we study past and present occurrence of chemicals in aquatic systems, be them in the oceans or lakes. The chemical information we obtain allow us to study a range of issues, such as past climate change, carbon cycling, spread of pollutants in the deep sea, trophic chains interactions and even the function of archeological artifacts.

We share the lab instrumentantion and techniques with the groups of:

Sergio Rossi, ICTA Ramon y Cajal researcher, with whom we tackle together several projects on modern marine natural products.

Joaquim Oltra, Associate Professor in the Department of Prehistory at the UAB, with whom we collaborate on archeological research

Graham Mortyn, Professor Agregat at the Geography Department of the UAB and ICTA researcher
