PhD Telecommunications Engineering - Dissertation on Land Mobile Satellite Channel Models - these models have been used for developing satellite communications standards (e.g. DVB-SH refs ).
Since 2004, Associate Professor with the Telecommunications and Systems Engineering Department at Autonomous University of Barcelona. Research fellow from 2002 to 2004 with the European Space Agency, Noordwijk (The Netherlands), contributing to DVB-S2 (ref and user guidelines) on QoS provision. During 2000, visiting professor at the Integrated Media System Centre, University of Southern California (US), contributing to the standard International Telecommunication Standards (ITU-R) Rec. S.1897. From 2004 till present she leads the wireless and satellite communications research group working on research projects won from open competition satellite/terrestrial network optimization (as e.g. proposed in the DVB/ETSI standard DVB-RCS2 (ref [i50][i51])) and network coding schemes for information networks (as e.g. proposed in IRTF for network coding). Research results are covered in more than 130 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 12 book chapters and 2 patents.
She is member of the Technical Committees of the IEEE Communications Society conferences. She is member of the European network of experts in Satellite Communications.
Current research interests include information theory with application to coding for secure communications and network information theory with application to network coding over virtualized networks.
Appointed Head of the Telecommunications and Systems Engineering Department at Autonomous University of Barcelona for the period July 2015 - June 2018.
