Since 2004, Associate Professor with the Telecommunications and Systems Engineering Department at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. From 2008 to 2012 part-time visiting professor with the University of Oslo (at UNIK) in Norway. Research fellow from 2002 to 2004 with the European Space Agency, Noordwijk (The Netherlands). During 2000, visiting professor at University of Southern California (USC) and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

She leads the research group on space communications with research projects mostly funded by European Space Agency. Her contributions are part of several international standards (e.g. DVB-S2 ref [6] and user guidelines, ITU-R Rec. S.1897 or DVB/ETSI standard DVB-RCS2 (ref [i50][i51])). Research results are covered in more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 13 book chapters, 1 edited book (link here) and 2 patents.

She is an European expert on the field of space communications and member of the European network of experts in Satellite Communications. 

She is senior member of IEEE societies of CommunicationsInformation Theory and Aerospace and Electronic Systems. Her former PhD students are now with the European Space Agency, space industry and Academy.

Current research interests include quantum communication and quantum security.
